Vinification

Théia is the domaine's Marsanne, named for the Greek goddess of light who gave birth to the Sun. The vines grow in clay and limestone soils at Montady in the Languedoc, on land bordered by the Canal du Midi and the ancient hilltop settlement of Ensérune. The 2024 fruit was harvested by machine at full ripeness and pressed slowly and gently, so that only the cleanest, fruit-driven juice reaches the cellar. Fermentation and ageing both take place in three 400 litre barrels, where the wine rests on its lees with regular stirring that builds a rounded, gently creamy texture. Just 1,440 bottles were made. The result is a generous dry white: a fine attack on white fruits, a round mid palate of ripe pear, and a warm finish that closes on citrus.

Importer's notes

Théia is the cuvée that first drew us to Domaine Roquefeuille, a young estate with an older story: the Mantion family has farmed this land since 1984, and Alexandre Mantion made his first vintage in 2023. We love how it carries southern warmth with real polish, the lees work giving it a texture you rarely find in a wine this young. This is a white for the table rather than the aperitif shelf: serve it chilled with sushi or fine shellfish to start, then let it follow white meat or salmon. It even holds its own with cheese, from Comté to the producer's bolder suggestion of Roquefort. Elegant, quietly ambitious and made in tiny quantities, it is exactly the kind of personal wine we look for.
